Caspar's digs make Josh laugh rather than get embarrassed. It's like shopping with Emily, if she were half a foot taller and also a guy. The laugh catches at something in his chest, a stab of longing for friends he hasn't seen in years now even though he knows he can't go back. Not after what he's done. Not after so long.
It has to be enough. These new memories with new friends even if they're not as close as the ones he's lost. Whose fault is that, Josh? He's the one who hasn't let anyone get close to him. Holding everyone at arm's length. And then here comes a pissy as fuck Mr. Robot who knows exactly how to get Joshua to be honest. Isn't scared of the jagged pieces and rough edges.
It's refreshing. And they're not even that close of friends.
He raises his eyebrows at the emphatic point Caspar's made to his pants, trying not to let the corners of his mouth upturn into a grin and only mostly succeeding.
"Yeah? Sure don't, but that's what the shopping trip's for. There's a darker teal pair I saw I kinda want too, if we're going full on eye punching colors here. You got a problem with darker colors?"
Josh can't deny they look pretty decent on him. Just not what he would have picked for himself to wear.
